PHILOSOPHY

Our effective training programs are the product of decades of commitment to learning, playing and teaching the game of tennis. The reality is that there are no shortcuts to attaining advanced level proficiency in tennis. Mastery is achieved through a student’s long term dedication to the work, coupled with the guidance of exceptional and knowledgeable coaches who are fully committed both personally and professionally to a player’s development. For our part, we pledge to supply the best personalized guidance possible. We’re not about bells and whistles. We are about tennis, plain and simple.

JUNIORS

THE BIG PICTURE.

We look toward the long term development of our junior players. Younger players will spend the majority of their training hours mastering the fundamentals of advanced technique and footwork, developing mature and complete skill sets that ultimately will serve them well in match play. Whether players have immediate success at the 10 & under or 12 & under age divisions is not our program’s primary concern. Good results can certainly come early, and often do with our players. The overall aim of our program though, is to build towards a vision for the future, to develop mature players who have no technical limitations and possess a fully rounded understanding of all that match play might entail.

CURRICULUM.

Our program’s emphasis is on building a strong foundation for advanced all-court play. We aim toward the mastery of essential balance, movement and footwork fundamentals coupled with biomechanically sound hitting technique from all areas of the court. Fitness, tactics, strategy, and the mental game are prime considerations and are all addressed in organized fashion.

EXPECTATIONS.

Enrolled players must possess a high degree of self-motivation. Competition is also an integral component of our training. As such, we encourage and guide players to compete in USTA, ITF and UTR tournaments and events.

While our junior programs are undeniably fun, we offer players a more serious brand of fulfillment, one rooted in personal growth tied to a commitment to the development of advanced level skill sets.

ADULTS

WE TAKE YOUR GOALS SERIOUSLY.

The training strategy for adult players can be markedly different from the needs of aspiring juniors. Assessment, analysis, and realistic solutions are critical to maximizing the potential of adult tennis players. At R. A. Tennis, we have the experience to map out optimal developmental strategies for adults based on their current personal technical and fitness levels, relative competitive match experience, and the available time and resources that a player has to devote to training.

FUN IS ENCOURAGED.

We realize that busy adults are often looking to kill a few birds with one stone, i.e. to improve their tennis, get in a workout, relieve some urban stress, socialize a bit, and of course, have fun. We are poised to accommodate players on all of those fronts.
